About Us

It is a well-known fact, that for a scattered and desperate people, a strong organization is needed to re-unite and revive it. Homenetmen was founded and soon became the ideal organization to unite and organize the Armenians.
Inspired by the Homenetmen world wide, a group of young Armenians (43 in number) decided to establish a Homenetmen branch in Jerusalem. Therefore Hovhaness Shahenian, a member of the Homenetmen Central Committee, was invited to put the foundation of the Homenetmen Jerusalem Branch on May 5th 1935.
The Homenetmen Jerusalem branch soon becomes a respected and successful Homenetmen branch, it currently boasts over 120 members and active scouting and athletic Divisions. In an Armenian community of no more than 2000 our branch represents a very important and active part of our community and it has played a vital role in the preservation of the Armenian culture within the Armenian youth in Jerusalem.
As an Armenian Scouting Organization our branch has over 70 scouts participating in our weekly scouting activities, which take place every Saturday between 15:00 – 20:00 at the Homenetmen’s main hall, located in the Armenian convent, old city, Jerusalem.
