May 28 Celebrations

   On Saturday, the 26th of May 2007, the traditional football tournament, dedicated to the 89th anniversary of the establishment of the first Armenian Republic, was held in the Armenian Convent's football field between the Homenetmen Jerusalem and Homenetmen Haifa football teams, both the senior and junior.

   The tournament started at 2pm with the football match between the junior teams of both Homenetmen branches. The game, which created much excitement beside the players and the fans, ended with Homenetmen Haifa's victory with a 3-2 score.

   At around 4:30pm, the football match of the senior teams started with high spirits. The game, which was very competitive and tense, ended again with Haifa's victory with a 2-1 score.

   Both victorious groups received their trophies during a special gathering at the Homenetmen centre on the same day. The gathering included home-made Armenian dishes and an atmosphere of national-revolutionary songs.  

    A week later, on Saturday, the 2nd of June 2007, a dinner party was held at the Homenetmen centre dedicated to the 89th anniversary of Armenia's independence. The party was organized by both Homenetmen and ARS executive committees and was under the auspices of ARF Jerusalem Committee.
