Protest condemning the murder of Hrant Dink

     On Tuesday, 23rd of January 2007 at 11:00am, On the same day when Hrant Dink was being buried in Istanbul, members of the Armenian community of Jerusalem gathered in front of the Turkish consulate in East Jerusalem, condemning the murder of Hrant Dink.

     The event organized by the Hay Tad committee of Jerusalem, gathered more than 100 protestors. The protestors carried banners written - " Hrant Dink: Victim of Turkish racism", " Hrant Dink:1954 - 1915. The Genocide Continues..." , " We are all Hrant Dink, we are all Armenians" , " Criminal Turkey in the EU ? ".

     The protestors also wore T-shirts reading, " i am a target for turkish terror ".

     The protestors chanted and sang Armenian nationalistic songs. The protest lasted for an hour which was documented and photographed by various reporters. A letter of condemnation was handed by the Hay Tad Committee to the Turkish consulate.

     The Homenetmen Jerusalem extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim, The Armenian community of Istanbul, and to the Armenian Nation, and angrily condemns the shameful murder of one of the most prominent journalist and champion of peace in Turkey. The murder came once again to prove to the international community that Racism still has its roots deep in the turkish society.
