       Opening ceremony of Homenetmen Haifa's Renovated club

 

Friday, the 30th of September 2005 at around 8 p.m. , Homenetmen Haifa made the opening of its newly renovated agoump thanks to the generous donation of the branche's previous member yeghpayr Mihran Baronin of Canada.

In front of more than 300 attendees gathered from Haifa, Yaffa, Jerusalem and Nazareth, yeghpayr Baronian together with yeghpayr Johnny Mouradjalian, chairman of Homenetmen Haifa, and yeghpayr Haig Aslanian one of the founders of the branch, currently living in Armenia, cut the ribbon and officially made the opening of the renovated building.

After the opening speech of the chairman, the mayor of Haifa Mr. Yona Yahav took the podium to make his congratulatory  speech, in which he mentioned the similarities of the Armenian and the Jewish nations such as Genocide and Diaspora. Following his words, Father Avedis Ipradjian the Pastor of Haifa and Yaffa gave his blessings, after which yeghpayr Aslanian and yeghpayr Baronian gave their speeches, in which they both emphasized the importance of a school church or club as a center of preserving the Armenian culture and identity.

After uncovering a memorial placard, the crowd was invited to a reception.
